I have officially begun my Tradoodle-doos. It was an intimidating start. The blank page and I staring at each other, like an old Western stand-off, I could almost hear the campy western tunes of the old western movies. I won! I am really enjoying it, I had no idea how much I missed working traditionally. Granted, it took me about 3 hours to get my inks to working status after a year of hiatus. There were many a nib change, a few ink barrel changes, but all is right in my little art world. I am not using pencil right now, just pure ink doodles. It's a challenge. With pencils, you can erase your oopsies, with ink if you do an oops it's up to you to make the oops look like an intention. I am specifically doing ink only to challenge myself, I've relied heavily on the undo button, digitally, and my traditional art is usually done with pencil sketches and then a lightbox to "trace" the final image. I'm a cheater...buuuut when it comes to traditional, I'm usually working for a client, so cheating is necessary in order to obtain the quality they are paying for. So is it really cheating? I think not. I usually change things while on the lightbox phase...I digress, I am really enjoying just doodling and letting things happen. It's fun and I've missed it, a lot. I may take a few pictures and post a bit of what is going on....
Inspiration in it's many forms...mostly from an online radio show I listen to. I only listen to the repeats, they are on the West Coast and since I'm on the East and a sissy (I cannot stay up that late.) I don't really have a choice, there's not enough coffee in the world. They are super entertaining and not for the easily offended. What show, you ask? The Pat and Brian Show (K-BIM Paranormal Talk Radio in front of the Pat and Brian show for the Google) They are hilarious...their intro to their show is fitting...and I quote, "If you have small children and allow them to listen to this broadcast, you are a bad parent." So any of the easily offended minions, you will get offended. I love their shenanigan's and their views on the paranormal, if they even get to the paranormal news. I laugh a lot, and for some odd reason they get me into the "zone". The music on their breaks is very diverse and interesting. I've ended up getting quite a few songs from them...including (from my previous blog) Midnight Syndicate. I would have never known about them if it's weren't for good ol' Pat and Brian. They are a must listen for me. A staple in my world of insanity. Thanks guys! I plan on working on a piece with my audio editor on (it's a special feature on Painter 16 that manipulates the brushes from the audio that is on, very cool feature). I'm hoping my PC doesn't have a complete aneurysm while attempting this. If not I'll wait, not patiently, for it's lobotomy. I haven't used the feature too much because it just lags the crap out of the PC. I'll try though...muhahahaha!!
Well my minions, it is back to the grind...our plague has passed enough for us to be able to go back to work.
