So there hasn't been new art on my store, some really good sales. But that's not why I'm here blogging today. I'm here for many reasons...the primary one is to reveal the mystery project I'm working on. A webcomic. Yup, you read that right. I have gone back to where I started, cartooning and having the time of my life!
I really thought starting a webcomic would be much faster...but I am taking my time with the main character and really getting to know her...and who she is. I already have ideas for some strips and I'm not sure if it's going to be like a daily comic strip that you see in the newpaper, or more of a graphic novel. I'm leaning towards a daily (well monthly in my case) strip and see where it goes from there. I do plan on doing a strip monthly to start, when I do get everything developed and ready to go. Maybe next year? I highly doubt this year as I'm doing everything myself. I am still working on the main character, have a ton of ideas for sidekicks, and filling in the gaps. Also, props and background settings...Granted I have not even begun to work on anything else but the main character. I am in no hurry. I want to get things just right. I have a lot of notes in my new journal dedicated to this project.
In other news...I am not quite sure where the strips home will be, I have a few ideas along with moving the blog. These are in the idea phase, when/if I move the blog, I will let everyone know on my main social media sites, which are now Twitter and FB. I'm hesitant about Instagram because of a video I watched on how frequently and easily users, some unknowingly, steal art. Plus I never truly figured out Instagram...and Tumblr is the same...although I may move the blog there. No final choices at this point...way too early.
My goal for this week is to get a teaser up using my comic strip creator...an introduction of sorts...it will be a bit dark, creepy but cute. I didn't think going back to my starting point would generate this much passion, love and drive. I will release it on our normal Monday...unless I forget, then Tuesday?. I don't know...I do know I want to get a few more pages of sketches done before the introduction. Then slowly but surely as I get the other character sketches finalised, there will be another introduction. I cannot even give you a timeline on when...so I'll be evasive like a lot of video game companies and say, "when it's ready."
I just ordered, finally, my nibs and extra cover for my Wacom. I should be getting those soon. As much as I've been drawing, I'm going to need them. If you want to support me in this endeavour the Support tab up top is the way to go. It is under the hubby's name, but it will go to the webcomic and art. Here comes a rant...of sorts...people assume that digital art is cheap...and while I suppose in the long run it is a bit cheaper...up front costs are insane. We may not have to buy paints, pencils, paper, but we do have to buy nibs for our tablets, sometimes tablets and programs to help out. Not complaining, I love the digital medium...another first going back to doing cartooning as I was doing my initial cartooning in a traditional medium. I have learned so much doing fine art digitally, it's actually helping me with the digital cartooning. Who'd a thunk? I sure didn't...but it has.
The other project that I'm working on with remain a mystery until it's in a more solid state...for now I'll be focusing on my webcomic and just being happy arting.
Okay I don't think that was too bad, or maybe it was? I don't know. I do know that I wish you all a very happy Monday and an amazing week or weeks until the next blog! Until next time I bid you an adieu!
