First, there is a huge sale going on over at Society 6. I don't think I've ever seen a sale so big over there...yes, that is what she said! I'm talking 50% off kind of sale...the links are headed to my wall art page, but the art is on a ton of different products! Don't miss out on this one...I don't know when this is going to end...they've been extending the sales all week. My very first Mandala is up there...and another piece! Plus a ton of new pieces from my Black Friday hustle. If you don't want to purchase off of Society 6 contact me! Through the contact page on the homepage of this site or DM me on Twitter or Facebook. Best chance of me seeing it is through the email, or the DM's. I do sell digital art files and my commissions are open! Tons of options!
In other art news...I am enamoured by mandala's as of late. I had one in the colour phase when something went wrong. Seriously wrong...file corruption, something. I am not quite sure...all I know is 30+ hours of work got "Chuck it in the Fuck it Bucket". I was bummed for a bit, then decided I could either: A. Remain bummed about it and waste time moping....or B. Get over it and start again and make it better. I chose B. It isn't done, but it is better than the first one, and much better than the corrupt one. In my humble opinion. I'm still learning the art (pun somewhat intended?) of mandala's and I still have a long way to go. I'm okay with it. I'll probably stick with them until I'm sick of them. Just another notch in my art tool belt of what I can do. It's to a point where I got an AMAZING deal on a brush set that I haven't even touched because I'm so wrapped up in mandalas. I'm giving myself eye strain, every single day. Wouldn't change it for the world, I think my eye doctor would have another take on the changing part.
Plague wise...we are getting better...slowly. The hubby is doing better but still sick...I'm still teetering...I think I'll be okay. Still reading The Princess Bride...I think I'll want to watch the movie after...lol. It's so similar but so different...as you are privy to the characters thoughts and backgrounds. Inigo Montoya and Fezzik both had it really rough. It adds a lot more depth to already endearing characters. So lots of arting and a bit of reading. No rest for my eyeballs.
This week is the Day of Dad and a possible game session. So a busy week. On top of it, I do plan on finishing up the mandala. Maybe try out the new brush set, then back to mandalas. Did I mention I'm enamoured? Entranced? Enchanted? All those E's and more! Going to try my hand at a creepy one soon. If I can do some of my usual twisted art in mandala form I will be super happy.
There is one rants in my pants...The fact that I was told that my art is too expensive. What? On Society 6 I get a commission, if I sell files, I'm selling my time. All artists' get this...but I think digital artists' gets it a bit worse. As there is a file, or the product on a print on demand store. You wouldn't go to work and your boss comes up to you and says, "we aren't going to pay you for your time, but you have to still do your job." Same goes. Traditional art is expensive with materials, plus time. But Digital Art is not cheap. While we don't have to worry about materials as much, but when we do it's expensive...i.e. computer upgrades, graphic tablets, brush sets, upgrades to the program...Plus both artists spend TIME doing it. In most cases, a LOT of time and we don't charge even minimum wage half the time. Hell half the time I don't even get minimum wage on a purchase from Society 6. They are more fair than the majority of the POD stores out there. Next time you look at a piece of art and say, that's way too expensive think about the materials, and time that the artist puts in...whether digital or traditional. I just worked 30+ hours on a piece I had to recycle because it corrupted. Not trying to shade anyone, but I think a lot of people don't realize the time, the material cost that goes into art. In a general assumption we are expected to work for free, not cool.
Ahhh my pants are rants free. That felt a bit better. I want to end on a positive note...saying I rocked my week, from workouts, to art, to adulting. It feels good at the end of the day knowing you accomplished so much and maybe made someone's day a bit better. Keep striving to be a better version of yourself everyday. Even if it's just 1% better. I know that not every day is 100%, even for me. But I do know that I own my days to the best of my ability on those days. I'm looking forward to owning today. I already have done quite a bit and it's not even 10am yet. Owning the drinking of the coffee right now. HA! I own that every day that ends in "Y".
Okay, so one last shameless plug and we made it! Head over to Society 6 and get in on the amazing sale! Or if you want a digital file, or files...direct message me from here, Twitter or Facebook. I'm still not fully on Instagram. I've been trying...it's just a very hard social media site to figure out. I grew up without the interwebs...so I'm still trying to figure out Twitter. I have Facebook down. I wonder if my My Space account is still active? Yeah, I was there...before Facebook dominated...and I've been hearing Instagram is dominating now. I really wish that you could do Instagram on your PC, that would make my life most excellent! Okay rambling over! I hope you all have a wonderful week and I will see you next Monday. Until then, I bid you an adieu!
