Saturday night...woohoo...it was actually the afternoon, I think? I don't know...time just runs together like melted crayons. I think it actually started on Friday? I really have no clue, but I DO know what I did yesterday, so for simplicity sake we will consider the happenings on the Saturday. ((sigh)) As I was saying, Saturday night...which now thinking about it, probably not accurate, since Friday was spent doing tradoodles, and procrastinating (that is a whole topic in and of itself). I digress, back to the story!! Focus, by the way, I'm typing to myself at this point, so if you need to get a coffee refill, by all means. Okay, as I was saying it was Friday when my trusty, scratched, well-used and loved Wacom decided to kaput. Okay these days are just not making ANY sense to me. Let's just take the days out all together, it'll make for a much more interesting story. It was an afternoon ending in "Y" when the Wacom decided to go on a sabbatical, in all fairness, how much I use it, it really does need a break. I'm a cruel taskmistress to my Wacom. My superhero/sorcerer hubby put the Wi-Fi set up for the Wacom. I don't like the Wi-Fi...again another topic for another day...I need more coffee...Like anything with a battery thing, it needed to be charged. The USB hub was NOT picking up the signal, it's a really nice hub, it has a pretty red light that light's up when you plug something into it telling you that it's working...good USB hub. Well it wasn't doing that...let's introduce the villain to the story...
The villain goes by the name of Windows 10. I hate the new operating system. I really liked Windows 7...but NOOooo Microsoft can't just leave well enough alone...I am STILL not used to it...and I'm thoroughly enjoying how it is so compatible with all my software and hardware on the PC. **note dripping acidic sarcasm** The evil Win 10 wasn't recognizing the hub. Such a snob. I went to The Google (another heroic character in my sordid tale) and we (the hubby was helping with the syncing of the tablet to the PC and trying to figure out the hub) found a solution. Nope. Didn't work. Now the hubby couldn't spend all night figuring out stuff...oh it was Saturday night because I remember saying to him not to worry about it, because he had an early shift! Mystery solved!! Aha! The marvels of the coffee finally seeping into my system. Anyways, he did work on it...oh wait, it was Friday, into Saturday, which bled into yesterday. My brain hurts. Okay so day ending in "Y" it is. I know that one day I was without my trusty Wacom...and boy there was some big displacement issues there. I felt lost, abandoned...It was charging, but since Win 10 was leaving the hub out of all the fun times, I couldn't do anything digitally, just sit and watch the tablet try and charge it's batteries.
I remember yesterday, I should maybe get myself checked out...this memory lapse thing is disturbing, granted my schedule was all thrown off by my friend and my Dad coming out, so there are reasons...I was a day behind a few times. The Tablet was charged, we got it synced, life was good....but the hub was bothering me. I JUST brought it home on Thursday. The fact that we had the problem cornered, like a rat aka Win 10, I couldn't let it rest. Being fully confident that I could fix it I went to The Google. Typed in why evil Win 10 wasn't picking it up...turns out a TON of people were having my problem, there were videos, articles, forums, pie charts...mmmm pie....We updated the drivers' the night before, restarted my PC a half a dozen times...even unplugged it and plugged it back in. Nothing, Nada. My first article I stumbled upon had all sorts of screenshots, and a cluster of intimidating windows open. I decided to unplug it from the hub, not the back of the PC and it was like slaying a mighty dragon (Win 10), it worked! The pretty red light went on...I thought my Wacom was fully charged, nope, it is now. Digital and Tradoodles were done. All was right in my world. Granted, the Wacom is dying...but at least I have bought myself more time, until I have to replace it.
Evil Windows 10 did not win this battle! I won! HA! Take THAT Windows 10! Please don't stop working on me, I'm sorry, I didn't mean all the cruel things I said about you, here, take a jump drive to appease your mighty anger.
That, my minions is the end of this story. Go and get yourself some eye drops now, to ease the eye strain. Until next time...
