The title says it all. It is done. I finished the biggun. I lost the exact hours spent...but from my estimation it is around the 130 hour mark. It turned out differently than I had initially "planned". I put planned in quotes because there is never a real set of plans, just loose guidelines...kind of like the Pirate Code...arrrgggh maties! I will be putting it up on update day. Which may change...again, more on that in a little while. I felt sad and relieved when I finished. It's always a bit sad finishing a piece...especially one you've been working on for more than 20+ hours. You get a bit attached and it becomes a comfort zone to know exactly what you are working on. Relief because I really did want to start new things. While working on one piece I get a ton of ideas for other pieces. Needless to say, my desktop is filled with rough sketches. Some will make it, others won't.
On finishing the biggun there was another pesky piece that has been sitting half done since before I started the biggun...in fact the biggun cut in line in front of said piece. I finished that one, too. Not as mind numbing, detail-wise. I buckled down and got it done. It was way more than half way done when I sat down to finish it...Took me about 2 hours to do the rest. Another wave of relief and just happiness at that point. Woohooo free to work on the sketches and just FREE! I usually take a little bit of a break when I finish really big pieces...did I this time?
Nope! I started immediately on a rough sketch that has been haunting me. I added about 4 or 5 more rough sketch ideas to the desktop...oops. Did I mention the ideas are flowing very freely and rapidly? If I don't get them down...even in extreme rough form there is a very good chance that I will forget about the idea and it will be lost in the eternal void of chaos. I am breaking up this piece with experimenting with different digital mediums. I'll be able to experiment with all of them (I hope) after the lobotomy. I am think beginning of May? Look an actual date! Woohoo! That's the hope at any rate.
Okay on to update days...and a possible change. With little tracking I have and information I'm noticing that Wednesday's aren't as good for you as Monday or Tuesday. This is where I will ask you, my minions...what is the best day for you? Some weeks it seems like you guys are here...and happily getting eye strain...other weeks it's really bad. Please leave a comment or contact me with a day that is better...or if Wednesday is good for you. I am always open to changing things up.
Updates on the non-art side. It's been pretty much eaten up by art. Next. While that isn't completely untrue...it's more truth than I care to admit. I am going to take it easy today...I am sure the peanut gallery will get a good laugh out of me saying that. Okay I'm planning on it...what will happen? No clue. I know right now, typing here, I am having ideas flooding my noggin. I am also having the urge to Folk Tale. I started campaign mode yesterday...it was a Dad day...so while I worked, it was a half day. I did mention I don't really take days off...yup I think that has been established in many of my past blogs.
