Yeah, we covered that it got chillier since the Monday and Tuesday glorious weather of weatherness. I was really enjoying it...even got a few thunderstorms which I slept through...again...well I come from a long line of champion sleepers. Once I'm out, good luck waking me up. Peanut gallery is the exact opposite of me, in that way. I wish I could infuse him with some of my champion sleeping skills...I'm sure he'd appreciate it. Either, way...spring seems to have sprung and I'm actually really happy about it. Finally warmth...as I am sitting here freezing right now...I do run on the cold side. All good, the workout today will get me all nice and toasty and sweating.
In arty art news...I actually DID squeeze in some time to do the arting. Granted, not working on the rough sketch of intimidation. I probably won't be working on it today, because I got an offer from Corel I couldn't pass up on a new brush set, just one **Cry** One more new set to go and I'll be at ease. I'm waiting for another sale. They for sure get the creative juices flowing. I've been arting whatever came to my mind...some abstract, one a cartoon-ish, surreal-ish piece. I plan on playing with the new brush set and seeing what I can't come up with. I have a few ideas...I am craving surreal arting...I won't be getting a ton of time to art this week...but I do plan on managing my time a bit better and getting more arting in. They should make it up on Society 6 this week. Segue card...
Speaking of Society 6, the free worldwide shipping offer ends tonight...The product is amazing and they don't screw anyone over. That saying, you get what you pay for, is so true. I've been on many stores over the years and the only other one I could promote closed their virtual doors to pursue more money and left a lot of artists in the cold. We will not mention names, but I will say Society 6 has the best product quality I've seen as a consumer and the best behind the scenes setting the art up on said product. It's very restrictive and very specific but it's to make that quality I rave about all the time, just amazing! I did hours and hours of research, days, weeks, been on several other online stores...none of them compare for fairness in pricing for the consumer AND not screwing the artist over.
In more, I am very happy to report my eyes are healthy! Minus the chronic dry eyes, which got worse. I was better last time but failed miserably this time around. My eye doc gave me some new drops and other tips and things that I need to do to keep my eyes going. So far, what I've done and what little time I've done it in, I am seeing (pun somewhat intended) a tiny bit of improvement. Being an artist and just any profession eyes are so important. I almost lost one a few years back and that was scary. I've been a lot more careful with my eyes. I want to rock the next dry eye test and be back or past where I was when I really improved...I'm too competitive...I passed all the other tests with flying colours. Woohooo!
In more of moreness...I have had an epiphany of sorts...I've seen on some other sites, like Deviant Art and even I'm guilty of it...on Facebook...people chasing the elusive numbers...the X amount of followers, likes, watches, etc. I am guilty of doing it...I'm also making a conscious effort to NOT do it. I know numbers on a marketing level counts, big time, and while I do my own marketing, I have to keep the arting as the main goal, THE focus. I've said before it's a tricky balance...well the arting has tipped the scales. Why? Because if I'm not giving my all in my art, it shows. It always shows...if marketing tips the scales the art isn't as good. I want the art to be better than the marketing. Yes, I will continue to market and get my name out there, no I will not let that scale tip in it's favour. I'm an artist first and foremost. I struggle with this a lot, and for those minions that are regular readers, you know this well.
On that note my minions, time isn't on my side, and I must mosey on out of the blog world and into the real world to get back to the arting world. Many worlds I live in...some I create, some I don't...but all do inspire me in their own unique ways. Happy Easter! I will not be blogging anymore this week...Have a safe and happy holiday/days off work. Until Monday and the full updates...I bid you an adieu!
