The state of the arting will come first, then we can get on to the generalized shenanigan's. You'll laugh, you'll cry because you're laughing so hard. My little experiment is going very well. (if you aren't up to date, check the earlier blogs, I think it's 2 blogs ago, now) I have been researching and comparing, reviewing, giving myself a good dose of eye strain. So far, what I've come up with is that Society 6 offers more product, with better quality than the other two stores AND they are significantly cheaper...not in quality, but in actual price. I'm not dissing on the other stores, I'm just really taking a step back and mulling about what to do with them. Granted, the month is not over, yet, and I do fully intend to wait the month out...statistics in hand, pie charts pied. After all is said and done, I will then make my choice of whether or not to keep them open, keep them open and not update them, or just shut them down. Oh and by the way, Society 6 is having a pretty awesome sale...again...they do sales a lot...not just for special occasions, even though I do know that pesky Valentine's Day is just around the corner. I digress...I'm doing the experiment for all of us, you, my minions, the voices in my head, and me. It takes me hours to update, and if I could shave an hour or so off that time, that is time I could be using to art. Some days, doing the actual art is less than doing the actual behind the scenes things to make the sites sparkly and clean...and shiny. Like a metallic unicorn.
As for the actual arting. I am in a scattered/focused state. I am really happy with my traditional piece. It's coming along, slowly but surely. Digitally, I'm in a "meh" state with the art. I have a ton of ideas racing in my head. A few wrecks from the all the racing...I am just following the "goldeny tarnished rule" of not forcing it, letting the paper (whether it is real life paper, or imaginary fake digital paper) talk. I have quite a few unfinished rough sketches, half finished pieces...digitally. They may never get finished, then I may look at them one day and get a burst of inspiration. I can't really say for sure. I can say that the inspiration is there, I am having an artists' overload which is the opposite of a block, but could very well lead to a block from being overloaded. I am trying not to let that happen.
Now that I've gotten you up to date on the state of the arting...see what I did there...no...well go drink more coffee. I've been wondering this for years, but since I haven't had my blog for years, I decided to just get my ranty, questioning, with a dash of nerdiness out here. Why do we attempt to predict weather with a rodent, every year? With all of our high tech gadgets and computer weather models (not the ones that do their little thing on the catwalk), etc. we still hold on to predicting when spring will come with an over-grown rodent?! Really?! Say, we have all of this computer data, but screw that, we'll wake up this rodent and see if he sees his shadow. If I was the groundhog I'd bite the person trying to wake me up out of my sleep, I wouldn't even have to be a groundhog...don't mess with my sleep. Dammit. I digress, groundhogs, not the most accurate of weather predictors...maybe if we got them a crystal ball, or something. Phil, the famous one, from the movie...is 39% accurate. Yes, I did the research (hence the warning about the nerdiness), now I didn't research how accurate the weathermen and their computer models and tech are, so who knows the varmint may be more accurate. Now do you see what I did? The talk of the high tech gadgets and the state of the arting? No, I think you may have to be in my head to get a chuckle out of that...I'll take a groan, an eye roll or a face palm...I'm not picky. In summary, leave the groundhog to his slumber...and if you can't at least cook him up...add some gravy, you may have a good meal. I don't know, I have never eaten groundhog. I have eaten many a strange thing...but not groundhog. Probably tastes like chicken.
On that note, my minions..I hope all of you are well and looking forward to an early spring, allegedly. **No groundhogs are computer models were hurt in the making of this blog**
