Of course there is a sale going on at Society 6. There will be several throughout the week with promo codes. You can find them on Society 6 up at the top of the page. These are pretty big sales and there's a new art piece from my abstract binge...so thankful for that binge of abstractedness. Wow that IS a word...go me!! I digress, head over regularly check out the sales, get some amazing swag for you, your family, friends, real or imagined...I think imaginary friends get totally neglected, they like stuff, too. Plus you are supporting an artist that works her tail feathers off to get this stuff all prepped and ready and rarin' to go. (you know I HAD to do a shameless plug) The links are to the general page of new art. Not because I'm lazy...but so you can see the new art piece on the plethora of product that it's on. I'll be trying to upload more than once this week, no promises.
I'm still working on the spooky piece. I actually have two, I really tried to push through and get the first one done. Nope, didn't happen. Not even close. I'd say more than half way, but a lot of detail to go and I have to go over a few of the other layers to marry them together, style-wise. I also have a non-spooky commission with no deadline, thankfully. I like no deadlines. I put them on myself though. The commissioned piece is a private piece that will not be up online. I'm focusing on the spooky pieces and I'm really hoping to get at least one of them done before the Halloween. Even though for this house, Halloween is all year long. Spooky and creepy is what I do...dark and twisted.
I did learn something in art which I think I already knew but my Noggin set up a rule and when it does it sticks like super powered glue. Line art. You can do line art without lines for the backgrounds. Hmmm....I thought that was one of those rules that can't be broken, kind of like perspective rules. Those can be kind of bendy, but usually pretty strict to make it look right, unless you want it to look wrong...the hubby, former artist, and I were talking about this. His sage wisdom is always amazingly helpful in my growth as an artist and as a human. He said ALL art rules can be broken...if it's what you're aiming for. Mind blown. I saw the "rule" being broken from one of my biggest inspirations Roman Dirge. I got a book of his and the stories are just so twistedly fucked up...which I love...but the art I love equally. I was seeing line art mixed and blended with non-line art. My Noggin said "What?!?! You can't do that!" Yet the art is just amazing. I am so busy taking away the lines that I think both spooky pieces I'm working on are suffering from my rigid, probably made up rule. While I will continue the next two pieces with the "rule" intact, the next pieces...minus the commission is going to be experimenting. For me it's like going backwards but forwards at the same time. As I used to do graphic design and a LOT of line work...before then comics were my thing...I look back at my old comic and I just marvel at how much I've grown. I won't show my old work...but a few of you minions have seen my old work...a long way I have come and a long way I have to go. The journey of growth never ends...for me as an artist and as a person.
Wow, that was one long paragraph...onto the Day of Dad guest starring the hubby! It was a great day. We were just all chilling doing our own thing...joking, laughing. We watched Manifest (great show, in my humble opinion) because my Dad missed it. Then the usual just chill. It was really cool having the hubby not at work. Friday I was all discombobulated...I didn't know what day it was, the hubby was at work...I did get a LOT of art done, though.
Onto the sleep deprivation. Yup, we had a game session. First of the two back to backs. They didn't get through all of my content, whew...but I do have a bit of planning to do. It's really hard to plan this type of game...you never know what the players are going to do, or where they end up. I did have to improv a LOT last night despite having plans and them not getting through the plans. I don't think I was on my "A" game but I did manage. The shenanigans' were very high last night...we did try and focus and did for about 10 minute increments and I'm giving a LOT of leeway there...I still had fun. I think everyone else did, too. It didn't run as late as usual, which means I wasn't as bad as last game session and I cut myself off of coffee early instead of chugging it like I was at a coffee kegger. Are those real? If they are please let me know...
On that note minions, I could go on...but I won't. It's been a crazy week, a shit show of a week with some good stuff thrown in, thankfully. Until next Monday...remember I will be trying to upload on Society 6 for you all to get in on the sales with new product...and there's a ton of old product to choose from...there's the right cup of tea for everyone!!! Toodles!
